
Student Assistant for Agroforestry Research & Digital Tools SustAgri Project) (m/f/d)
Short description
The SustAgri project promotes agroforestry in the Mediterranean region considering the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem (WEFE) nexus. Using participatory research methods, the project develops practical tools to support farmers in planning agroforestry systems. These include a catalogue of traditional and innovative approaches, training materials, a planning web application, and a handbook on business models and financing.
As a student assistant, you will support both project management activities and the development of an online catalogue of agroforestry solutions. There is also the opportunity to complete a final thesis within the project.
Your tasks
- Conduct content research on agroforestry and contribute to a systematic literature review.
- Support the development and maintenance of the online agroforestry catalogue (content creation and data entry).
- Assist in project management tasks, including participation in internal and consortium meetings, writing meeting minutes, and supporting collaboration with project partners (e.g., support the fix of smaller technical problems and communication).
Optional Opportunities:
- Contribute to frontend development of the project website or web app.
- Complete a master’s thesis within the project.
Your profile
- Candidates must be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program, preferably Forestry, Agronomy, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related relevant field
- Excellent English language skills are required (C1)
- Basic Python skills (please indicate experience level)
- Ability to work independently, systematically, and with attention to detail
- Identification with the RLI Values
- Residence and right of abode in Germany is required
- We expect successful candidates to work independently, systematically, and thoroughly with minimal supervision.
The following experiences are a plus but not must:
- Experience in Frontend Web Development
- Arab language skills
- French language skills
- Interest in Tunisia/Algeria/Italy and cross-cultural research contexts

General condition
- Start of work on 01.08.2026 or by arrangement
- Contract duration minimum 6 months
- Between 40 and 60 hours per month possible by arrangement
- Remuneration with a gross hourly rate of €15.50 per hour
